2006 Chardonnay - Russian River Valley
Tasting Notes
Ever in search of optimal fruit and trusted techniques,
La Czar’s first Chardonnay is the color of straw with a green
hue, often associated with longevity. This is an all-occasion
Chardonnay. The nose is a perfume of honeysuckle, melon,
subtle toast and brown spices. On the palate this wine is
medium-bodied with a decidedly fruity and youthful appeal.
Lush and creamy, the late palate is crème brûlée that hints
of minerals and butter. As with most luxuries or pleasures,
one bottle will not be enough! Drink now – 2013.
Winemaker’s Notes
As the weather began to cool in late September the harvest
came in. The only La Czar wine to go through a stainless steel
treatment prior to barreling, this Chardonnay spent about 10%
of its new life in tank. With careful consideration to richness
of flavor, 25% new wood was chosen in a combination of 90%
French and 10% Hungarian oak. After ten months, the wine
was ready for the bottle in September of 2007.
